Endodontics - Dental Root Canal Treatment

Endodontics (“endo” = internal; “dontia” = tooth), is the area of dentistry that aims to treat the internal part of the tooth, curing lesions and diseases of the pulp and roots of the tooth.

Its great importance lies in the fact that we can preserve teeth that have extensive caries that reach the dental pulp, causing, in turn, infection and inflammation. Dental trauma and fractures can also cause irreversible damage to the pulp of the tooth (pulp death) which, as a result, can lead to the appearance of abscesses.

The root canal treatment aims, therefore, at the removal of infected pulp tissue, with files; the disinfection of the root canal, through washing with chemical solutions and subsequent sealing of these same canals.
