Dental Aesthetics with Pure Ceramics Course

General objectives

It is intended that the trainees at the end are able to diagnose, plan and perform all-ceramic prosthetic restorations, as well as establish a more fruitful relationship with the dental technician (DT) in order to improve the performance of these types of work.

 

Specific objectives

At the end of the training action, trainees should be able to:

  • Diagnose the various clinical situations based on scientific criteria and patient expectations;

  • Know and improve new techniques and materials available on the market (Cad-Cam system, injection system etc…);

  • Recognize the fundamental role of periodontal health in the success of any restorative treatment;

  • Develop protocols that allow the execution of more satisfactory and predictable ceramic restorations (crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays and ceramic fragments);

  • Establish a close relationship between aesthetics, form and function (occlusion).

  • Module I: Patient Examination, Differential Diagnosis and Treatment Plan 

  • Module II: The importance of study models and diagnostic wax-up

  • Module III: Techniques for dental preparation and making temporary

  • Module IV: Impression Techniques and Obtaining Working Models

  • Module V: Cimentation Protocols for the various types of materials

Recipients

Dentists who want to update their knowledge in the aesthetic treatment of their patients with all-ceramics.

Training Methodologies

The syllabus will be addressed by the trainers through audiovisual means, for presentations of theoretical classes. Pre-clinical practical classes will be performed by participants before the start of clinical sessions, so that work protocols are pre-established. Participants will also be suggested to bring patients to carry out their clinical work. There may be, if the participants so wish, the demonstration of a clinical case by the trainer.

Assessment Methodologies

Diagnostic assessment – carried out at the beginning of the course, in order to verify the trainees' prerequisites.

Formative assessment – carried out modularly in order to assess the knowledge acquired during the course, with a weight of 70% in the final grade.
Summative assessment – verifying the knowledge consolidation of the trainees at the end of the course, with a weight of 20% in the course completion grade.

  • Room with good light, ventilation, temperature and isolated from disturbing noises for proper functioning;

  • Space equipped with all the necessary teaching resources (flipchart, LED TV, computer and all practical material needed for training);

  • Furniture that respects the ergonomics rules of trainers and trainees;

  • Space wide enough to allow for the realization of group dynamics and the arrangement of tables in “T”, in order to facilitate communication;

  • Space supported by living areas, cafeteria;

  • Easy access location;

  • Space whose cleaning is ensured daily.

  • Automatic device for handling molding materials

  • Water bath

  • Computer and Monitor

  • Accessory Kit (materials and instruments for implementation of practical classes)

  • X-Ray and RVG Gendex System

  • Viewbox

  • Various Molding Materials

  • Stock trays

  • Materials for obtaining intra-oral records

  • Basic clinical instruments (mirror, probe, tweezers, carpule, aspirator, scissors)

  • Gingival retraction cords + hemostatic

  • Denture laboratory benches with plaster vibrator, vacuum spatulator, polishing motor and steam jet

  • Triple module with syringe, micromotor and high-speed turbine.

  • Pre-clinical workstation with materials and equipment for practical classes: model, drills (various), articulators, tweezers, acrylic resins, rubber bowls, insertion spatulas

  • Prosthesis laboratory with support machines for the manufacture of crowns and bridges; pre-heating oven; furnace for casting rings; aluminum oxide jet and plaster cutter, steam jet, polishing lathe

  • Bench for applying ceramics with ultrasound; Criox appliance and DeKema Austromat oven for firing and injection of ceramics and so on.
